- What are the key areas in which you learned new skills/information about technology this semester?
I have learned that I can utilize technology in my teaching as well as designing assignments for the students as they can learn in a more creative way, plus it is their native language for them to use technology as an aid to their education, which makes my teaching easier. - What are the key areas in which you increased your knowledge about integrating technology into your teaching?
I love the idea of teaching through Podcasts and Screencasting as well. They were not how I gained knowledge from my teachers, but I think they are especially useful since it may not be as mundane as regular teaching. - Of all the topics we addressed this semester, which one (or more) would you still like to learn more about?
I would like to learn more of copyrights as it is very informative to both educators and the students, where they can use resources without restriction after they have learned about the proper way of acquiring information. - How would you compare or contrast what you learned this semester from the way technology was used by your teachers during your K-12 schooling?
I have never learned any of these topics and technology during my k-12 schooling years. The presentations that we had to prepare was using handouts or manila cardboards, all the basic ones. So, these are entirely new, but not so new, since I personally have picked up some PowerPoint skills as my personal interest. However, Podcasting and Screencasting are somewhat intriguing and I am considering to use them quite extensively as an aid for my music classes. - How would you describe your attitude toward technology now compared to the beginning of the semester?
I think that technology really helps a lot with building better communication between the teacher and the students and it is becoming a necessity for everyone in order to get access to education in this day and age. I am comfortable using technology and I believe it will be of a great help in my lessons and I will continue learning the ever-growing music technology.

It is no news that most of the students who are tech-savvy enough can easily access to the internet to grasp any kind of information, any time, any place, as long as there is internet available for them. Regardless of any topic and age, people would go to youtube, spotify or any website and application to get in touch with the latest music, especially popular music in large demand. As we all realized, the internet is a big part of our lives and we are rather dependent on it to get our resources, including music.
Even though it is a current fashion that we all need internet to learn about most of the informations, there are still people who chose other ways to get to the similar information that we get. However, it is by popular demand, that internet is something extremely essential especially to our generation, because we always want to learn the latest news of everything as well as sharing the information to the others at the fastest pace possible. In this case, music education is no exception. It is not necessarily the best learning method, but we have to admit that the growth of students being dependent on internet in this day and age is increasing and we certainly have to tailor our teaching to fit our students' preference. It is, however, a better route for us, as music educators, as we can share information among each other with just a click away and we get to improve our knowledge in learning and teaching with one simple action. As long as there is internet access, it will always play a big role in music education and be increasingly useful to us. |
